GTA 6 on PC: is it coming? The official status (not announced) and a tracker

Published: 2026-07-18 · pc, platforms, official, rumor-watch

As of July 18, 2026, there is no announced PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI — no date, no pre-order, and no official system requirements. The only platforms Rockstar Games and Take-Two have ever named are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, launching November 19, 2026. This page logs every official platform statement with its date, gives Rockstar’s past console-to-PC gaps as context — explicitly not a forecast — and keeps every “PC is coming” claim in the clearly labeled speculation column, per our editorial standard.

One sourcing note up front: the platform and date facts here trace to Take-Two’s investor releases, which verify live (tier 1). Rockstar’s own Newswire posts return a block to automated tools, so where their wording is load-bearing we treat it as index-corroborated across reputable outlets. The historical PC-port dates further down come from Rockstar’s own past announcements, index-corroborated by press and reference outlets.

The official status: not announced

Take-Two’s pre-order press release names the platforms word for word: “PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X|S games and entertainment systems.” There is no mention of PC anywhere in it. The same current-gen pair carries the November 19, 2026 date in the Q2 Fiscal 2026 earnings release, which states Rockstar “will now release Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19, 2026.”

No official Rockstar or Take-Two channel has announced a PC edition, a PC release window, a PC pre-order, or PC system requirements. “Not announced” is not the same as “ruled out,” and it is not the same as “coming.” Rockstar has simply said nothing about PC in either direction — and neither will we.

Every official platform statement, dated

Here is the complete log of what official channels have actually said about platforms, in order. PC appears in none of them.

Across more than two and a half years of official communications, PC has never appeared once.

Historical context: Rockstar’s console-to-PC gaps

Rockstar has historically brought its big open-world titles to PC after their console launch. That is a pattern in past games — it is precedent, not a promise. Nothing below is an official statement about Grand Theft Auto VI, and none of it indicates a GTA VI PC plan or a PC date. Read it as background only.

Grand Theft Auto V — an ~18-month gap

Grand Theft Auto V launched first on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17, 2013, and reached PC on April 14, 2015 — roughly an 18-month console-to-PC gap. Rockstar’s own release-dates Newswire post carries the timeline (index-corroborated), and it is corroborated in turn by Wikipedia’s GTA V article and the IGTA5 launch timeline.

Red Dead Redemption 2 — an ~13-month gap

Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018, and came to PC on November 5, 2019 — roughly a 13-month gap. It was announced through a Take-Two/Rockstar press release titled “Red Dead Redemption 2 Coming to PC November 5th” (that official IR release is index-corroborated — it appears under that exact title — and body-corroborated by Wikipedia, Forbes, and PCGamesN).

These two gaps — about 18 and about 13 months — are the entire factual basis for the “PC in 2027 or 2028” guesses you will see elsewhere. A pattern across older titles is not an announcement about this one. Rockstar has said nothing about whether GTA VI will ever come to PC.

Rumor and speculation — clearly labeled

Everything in this section is unconfirmed. It is here so you can recognize it, not so you can rely on it.

What would count as real PC news

There is exactly one thing that would move a PC version out of the speculation column: an official announcement. Specifically, any of:

Until one of those appears, every PC date, window, storefront listing, or “system requirements” is unconfirmed speculation. The tell on a fake “PC announcement” is always the source: if it is not the Rockstar Newswire, rockstargames.com, the @RockstarGames channel, or a Take-Two investor release, it is not official.

What is not confirmed

Honesty is the product, so in one place:

Confirmed (official):

Not announced / not confirmed:

The console-to-PC gaps for GTA V (~18 months) and RDR2 (~13 months) are context, explicitly not a forecast for GTA VI. Anywhere this page uses “expected,” “speculation,” or “projection,” you are reading the unconfirmed kind of claim. The FAQ keeps the short version, with the same sourcing bar.

When this page changes

When Rockstar Games or Take-Two announces a PC version — a date, a window, a store page, anything official — this page and the database update the same day, and only when the word traces to an official channel. Until then, the confirmed answer is unchanged: two platforms, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, on November 19, 2026, with no PC version announced.
